Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)

Agenda: Recovery Policies to Combat Wealth Inequality.

The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is one of the six main organs of the United Nations. Established in 1945, this council focuses on three aspects of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental. ECOSOC encourages agreement on policies and actions that make fundamental links across all three aspects.

Jia Mishra (Chair)
Jia Mishra, Chair of United Nations Economic and Social Council is a passionate MUNer, and with only two years of experience of Junior Model United Nations, she won a verbal mention in her first year and an outstanding delegate award in her second. She is thrilled to be working as Chair this year and knows she is in for an enthusiastic, attention grabbing debate! She loves public speaking and can often be found immersed in meaningful debates and conversations. Outside of academics, you can find Jia spending her time in nature, doing Kathak or playing badminton.

Sunidhi Tumuluru (Vice-Chair)
Sunidhi has been an active MUNer since 2018 in Oakridge’s JMUN and is extremely excited for her first year chairing a committee. She won verbal mention and outstanding delegate in her years of MUN and has attended an international IIMUN as well. She loves to dance, play instruments and is passionate about painting and music. Sunidhi also enjoys interacting with people, being outside and reading a book in the evenings.
