United Nations Security Council (UNSC)

Agenda: Combating the threat of modern-day imperialism and analysing its implications.

The United Nations Security Council is one of the six principal organs of the UN. Its primary objective is the maintenance of international peace and security. The UNSC is the only committee with legally binding authority. Members in the SC can impose sanctions and authorize the use of military power through directives or in the resolution itself. The SC also has the responsibility of accepting new member states into the UN.

Rakshita Sivakumar (Co-President)
Rakshita Sivakumar will be one of your co-presidents in UNSC this year. She’s been attending MUNs since 6th grade, and of course, several JMUNs too. She was a part of the EB last year and is very excited to come back. She loves to spend her time watching Modern Family, reading or obsessively taking pictures of the sky. She looks forward to a fruitful debate at UNSC this year!

Arjun Singh (Co-President)
Arjun Singh will be one of your co-presidents for the UNSC committee. He has 3 years of MUN experience in which he has earned multiple awards such as honorable mention and best delegate across a range of committees. He spends his time across a variety of interests from cyber security to photography. This is his first year as a member of the Bureau and he is excited to help make the committee a great success. He expects delegates to bring intriguing and productive debate, coming to a satisfactory resolution.

Tanishaa Mukundhan (Moderator)
Tanishaa Mukundan will be your moderator for UNSC this year. She has about 1 years worth of MUN and JMUN experience and looks forward to sharing this experience with all of you. She loves to spend her time reading as well as writing about her own creative imagination. She looks forward to UNSC being a successful committee in which all the delegates can make some great memories, through fruitful discussions.
