The United Nations Human Rights Council is a United Nations body that was Established on 15 March 2006 with a mission of promoting and protecting human rights around the world. It aims to examine instances of human rights breaches and offer valuable suggestions on them. It has the ability to discuss different thematic issues relating to human rights that have to be tackled throughout the year.

Snigdha Tiwari
(Chair)
Snigdha is a seasoned MUN enthusiast who adores chairing committees and valuing diverse
perspectives. This year, she takes the helm as the chair of the UNHRC, eagerly
anticipating the dynamic discussions and diplomacy it will entail. Kendrick Lamar's
words, "We all get distracted, the question is, would you bounce back or bounce
backwards?" resonate with her resilience and determination in both diplomacy and
leadership. She is driven by an exceptional aptitude for leading discussions, and cannot
wait to meet all the delegates that share the same values as her.
Tanvi Srinivasan
(Vice-Chair)
Tanvi is a devoted MUNer who has attended 5 MUNs, 2 of which were this very JMUN. She
has gained a lot of knowledge from these MUNs and is exhilarated to be the Vice Chair of
the UNHRC. Apart from MUNing, Tanvi likes to read and listen to music during her free
time, she is also very passionate about knitting and crocheting. She is anticipating
thrilling discussions and debates from all the delegates during this conference.
Shaayan Malick
(Moderator)
With three years of MUN experience, including seven conferences, one JMUN, and a passion
for coding, sports, and nonfiction reading, Shaayan has been appointed as UNHRC
Moderator. His global upbringing across eight schools in four countries informs his
dedication to debating global issues. Eager to work with fellow chairs and delegates,
Shaayan aptly quotes Drake: "Sometimes it's the journey that teaches you a lot about
your destination," as he embarks on this role.
Rishita Borah
(Moderator)
Addicted to MUNs since 2021, Rishita the UNHRC moderator has earned 3 placements out of
5 conferences, 2 from our very own JMUNs. Through these experiences she’s found herself
fluent with the ins and outs of MUNs and is honored at this opportunity to moderate
UNHRC this year. When she’s not preparing for her next conference she can be found
reading, listening to music or playing badminton. She looks forward to facilitating
electrifying debates on pressing issues, diplomacy and cooperation to create an
enjoyable and successful JMUN.
