United Nations Security Council (UNSC)

Agenda: Addressing rising tensions in the South China Sea.

The United Nations Security Council is one of the six principal organs of the UN. Its primary objective is the maintenance of international peace and security. The UNSC is the only committee with legally binding authority. Members in the SC can impose sanctions and authorize the use of military power through directives or in the resolution itself. The SC also has the responsibility of accepting new member states into the UN.

Meet your Executive Board

Sunidhi Tumuluru (Co-President)
Sunidhi Tumuluru is an active MUNer and has been involved in Oakridge JMUNs since 2018. This is her third year as a member of the Executive Board, and she can’t wait to chair UNSC for the first time to give a new batch of delegates a fruitful experience. Sunidhi also loves dancing, sketching and reading anything entertaining.

Arryaa Oduru (Co-President)
Arryaa is a vehement MUNer addicted to the intense workings of diplomacy. Over the course of a 9 MUN career, he’s bagged placements in conferences like JMUN, DMUN, IMUN, and VMUN. From starting continental wars in UNDP to forming JCCs as Narendra Modi, Arryaa has experienced his fair share of the circuit, trying his best to embody everything a delegate should (and shouldn’t) strive to be. Outside of committee, he can be seen starting pointless debates on equally pointless topics, hopelessly sprawled on the floor after having watched the New England Patriots blow yet another 4th quarter lead, or being a failure at competitive swimming.
